Jealous Haters Since 1998!

It’d be hard to categorize Boobie Trap vocalist Franki Mattson as your typical girl next door.  She smokes incessantly, she cusses, she fucks midgets, and she’s by no means what you’d call a shy girl.  Not by a long shot.  She’d probably fuck you up quicker than she’d fuck you.  With Franki, the smell of death and all that’s evil lurks in the air along with the sweetness and Shredbettie good looks of the girl.

Of the whole crop of female fronted bands to come along in the last decade, whether it be Joan Jett or the Go Go’s, Boobie Trap with Franki out front are the most hot wired and hard charging of the bunch.  Boobie Trap pays more tribute to the likes of bands like L.A.’s very own Dinah Cancer fronted 45 Grave, and New York’s Armegeddon-ish Plasmatics, who brought the Diva of destruction named Wendy O. Williams to the masses who were starving for the Rock‘em, Shock‘em antics and quality family entertainment she gave us.

The beauty of Boobie Trap is that they aren’t spit shined to a flawless perfection, but are more into presenting themselves honestly and doing what it is they know how to do best.  Raw, Powerful Punk Rock.  The band is in their element live, as well as in the studio.  I’ve seen Boobie Trap live on more than one occasion, and was in awe and mesmerized in general watching the visually stunning Franki while being sonically assaulted by the super-fast, super-loud guitars of Danny C. and Scotty, along with Dave on bass, and trainwreck ex-White flag drummer Tracy on drums.

Boobie Trap is one of the hardest working So. Cal bands around, which promote and book most of their own shows and are reaping the rewards of all their hard work.  The band is getting the opportunity to play bigger and bigger shows with better-known bands based on the merits of their consistently killer live performances.  In just over a year Boobie Trap has gone from their humble beginnings playing any place they’d have them, to opening a series of shows and making special guest appearances with So. Cal favorites Cadillac Tramps, and Manic Hispanic.

The word is out on this band and it’s only a matter of time before the industry offers start rolling in.  I’ve acquired a copy of Boobie Trap’s “Hidden Agenda” pre-release demo CD, and I can honestly tell you that it’s a strong first release for such a young band.  Plainly put, it’s incredible.  Drawing on 12 of the bands original songs, the “Hidden Agenda” CD takes the bands black hearted punk aggression and filters it straight through solid white noise, giving it the end result of sounding as raw, powerful, and every bit as live as the band sounds live.

They’re loud, they’re punk, the songs are catchy, and there’s a lot of great hooks in there.  And in the words of Karen and Richard Carpenter…”They’ve only just begun!”

Visit the official Boobie Trap home page for more info on the band.
