No fears thrash addicts, your brand of metal will never go out of style. Sure some of the seminal bands in the genre have moved on to other things but if you got an inkling for the likes of Entombed, “Kill Em’ All” era Metallica, early Pantera then you are absolutely gonna love the brutal sonic assault of Disarray’s new CD.

This has got to be the most riff happy album, I have heard all year. It easily ranks up there with some of the best metal albums of 2002 like Down II, Brand New Sin’s debut and Iron Savior’s “Condition Red” (although it’s a whole different ballpark than Iron Savior).  With a mix of New York hardcore, Southern metal and a huge helping of trash Disarry don’t screw around they go for the throat and get your head banging from the first moment.
Vocally Chuck Bonnet comes out as a cross between early James Hetfield and Phil Anselmo, so you get the power you would expect. The riffs are just insane, plenty of crunch but also a lot more structure and melody than you would expect. It doesn’t quite get into the progressive nature of a band like Opeth but you won’t get bored with the riffing either. The name of group is a bit of a misnomer, because the band seems to know exactly what they want to accomplish here. It’s a controlled chaos that has an underlying genius to it. Disarray’s brand of metal may never reach the mainstream but for die hard metal heads this is a must have CD.

They don’t go all out for speed but instead concentrate on power and that’s the secret to appealing magic of Disarray’s sound. In many ways, this is the CD that Pantera should have put out last time. The music isn’t overly somber but it has its dark brutal side, it’s not anger put to music but more of an outpouring of emotion. The final track on the CD will kind of throw you but the rest of the CD is packed with pure uncompromising metal.

In age where headbangers can be heard screaming cries of “false metal”, Disarray returns with an album that will not only make them abandon those fears but also give them hope for the future. Here is a rockin pure metal band and there is no mistaking their appeal. Forget all of the nu-metal crap your younger brothers and sisters are listening to, if you want some metal then there really is no other choice than this new album from Disarray.
