become totally obssessed with them. Intelligent, Thought provocative and
quite simply genius is what Radiohead is. They were the band that made
me pick up the guitar and learn the piano, I've even tried to get my hands
on Jhonny's Ondes Martenot! Radiohead is real music, depressive, different
whatever you want to call it, if it's beautiful then that's all that matters.
Radiohead are for real,If you're not a fan then go see them live, It doesn't
get much better than Radiohead.

playing at the same time..and NOT stepping on each other's toes. Genious
keyboards by all. Colin Greenwood is subtle, sweet, and unegotistic in
his playing. Phil Selway is hauntingly melodic in his drumming. Plus..they
are past the stage where they list who plays what on the album..because
they all switch off. Talk about Quality Teamwork. Just another life-lesson
to learn from the geniouses we like to call Radiohead.

it is. depression, ha.. any musician has had an album of depression whether
its heavy metal, or brit pop. its just how the world turns. people have
stages. we all fall, but we get back up again. radiohead never fell. and
they never will, it just doesnt happen. its 2005. they're still here. there
music is all we got .

i heard was ok computer. i was 15. now, imagine that!!! hearing THAT!!!!
it amazed me, shocked me!!! inever felt that way!!! that's the thing whitradiohead
and thom yorke. HE described every ****ing feeling I felt, from loneliness
(well, i guess we've ALL felt that way) to not being able to talk to someone
you truly love (and you sit there wishing you could still make love; the
best thing that you ever had is gone away) so give them a shot you won't

Jeff B: I think that our society is going to s***,
and Radiohead is one of the only few forces in this universe that can pull
us out of this. We need reality thrown in our faces. ~"There'll be no more
lies."~ Radiohead is by far the most innovative and expressive band in
the world today...they can dig out the "unsuperficialness" from the souls
embedded in even the worst tennis moms across the plastic plains of america.
If we can all learn to love the strangeness of Radiohead, then we will
be more able to love ourselves and our fellow humanoids. Everybody is strange.
Everybody SHOULD be strange. Thats all i have to say about that.

rh and depression. what the ****?! people feel that way!!! sure, rh are
a great band, they make excellent music, but do you think that they'd have
so many fans if people didn't feel the same ****ing way?!?!?! because that's
what music (and art) is all about. the fact that it makes you feel. and
that's excatly what rh does to me. and i wouldn't change it for anything.

are saying "kids dont like radiohead" I am a 13 year old kid, and Radiohead
is my favorite band. Now, when I share my music with other kids, I get
so frustrated because they dont understand it. they say things to me like
"be a normal kid, like these bands." ive almost given up on Radiohead because
its so hard to find another kid that appreciates them like i do, but everytime
i listen to them, i just forget that, they are an amazing band, it doesnt
matter what the other kids think, its their fault because there missing

Nick : I'm 21 y.o. guy from the US and have been
a Radiohead fan since the very start. For the people who said that they
like radiohead and quickly retract after hearing newer records, hear this.
As your feeble pop/rock minds of the 90's stay locked in, others were out
for self-improvement and new exploration. They also wanted to learn, as
most humans strive to do. As a young kid hearing Pablo Honey and The Bends
you understand the finding a sound stage. OK Computer flew past the next
level of building on "the" sound to a level of intellect. From there on
out it was clear that Radiohead will remain a band that gives listeners
a chance to think in awe. Kid A beautifully pushed the wall of exploration,
while Amnesiac was like a glossary for listeners still confused by Kid
A. Hail to the Thief was an excellent mixture of the bands skills and talents
that they have worked to improve on every preceding record. The theme that
Radiohead always comes back to in my mind is the desire to learn and improve
while staying who they are. How can you fault somebody for that? For all
who have given up trying to expand their narrow line of sight try again
you might learn something. Do not just dismiss something because it's hard
to understand. Now if you have listened and attemped and still don't care
for the music then fine we are not all the same, and I thank you for giving
it a chance. Keep enjoying music out there!
P.S. Not all of us Americans are moron,
gun slinging idiots from the south. There are some of us here that still
know what is really going on haha.

I read some of his other stuff and Kid A is one of his favourite albums

an observational piece. Too me, the article sounds like he's telling it
how it is and it's up to readers to decide. In no way is the article telling
readers how to think.

cant understand. Whats so hard to understand, they write deep musical music,
and when they perform live they sound even better then on their album.
How many bands can claim that. Ive seen many bands live and been amazed
that they could even get a record deal. Radiohead records original work
in the studio that everyone tries to emulate, then delivers with a performance
that would put any of this guitar talk to rest.

5 more albums like The Bends and OK Computer, sold out Stadium around the
world, been even richer than they have already become. They could have
been the next U2(early 90's U2). It would have been the easy route, but
they did not give in to those pressures. They wrote truely CREATIVE(operative

many things: First of all, I've never heard of Kid

did these 5th graders listen too and how many were used? We get four results
from how many kids? A poorl representation if you ask me, they are American
as well (everything with a pinch of salt 'ay?). Lastly, since listening
to Radiohead I've found it genuinely difficlt to find new music I actually
like, no loss really, I can just listen too Radiohead all day long, it
just doesn't get boring like the vast majority of other music. I think
that's what puts them head & shoulders above the rest.

something so much deeper in their music than just throwing a guitar with

even Kid A had guitar and bass present. I'm glad that Radiohead is not
another stagnant alternative overplayed band, i love the way they change
things up and give you something unexpected. Sure, The Bends was good.
But so was Hail to the Thief. IF you've every tried to play a radiohead
song on guitar you know how complex their music is. And i just heard "fake
plastic trees" today on the radio. What idiot decided to interview Kid
Rock? His music lacks taste, originality, and complexity, and his lyrics
are all about getting drunk and pimping teenagers (though some times he
sings about OTHER band names). He's everything that's wrong with mainstream
alternative rock. Radiohead's music is not a fad, a fashion, or a marketing
technique. It will endure long after the nay-sayers' grandchildren have
died (while listening to linkin park copycats).

Inspiron: First of all, Radiohead is not just a
band; it is a state of mind. This is not traditional pop or rock music,
and labeling Radiohead a rock band is simply ridiculous. If you think that
it does not take an ambitious, intelligent mind to make the euphoric melodies
and harmonies presented in the last 4 radiohead albums then you're simply
not intelligent enough to understand it. Why bash radiohead, one of the
most critically acclaimed bands of our generation when all of these mediocre
copy bands are making millions? Radiohead is a band that pioneered what
indie rock is today. The Pink Floyd of the 90's and 2000's. Amen.

Matthew, UK: My first introduction to Radiohead was
a download-fest I had last year where I illegally obtained about 20 or
so songs. From Inside My Head to Sit Down, Stand Up I had no idea where
these albums fitted into Radiohead's career in terms of chronology so I
ended up getting a huge range of Radiohead over a very short amount of
time. I ended up buying OK Computer and after a few listens, it became
one of my favourite records of all time. I then bought Hail to the Thief,
which I also fell in love with, and then The Bends, Kid A, Pablo Honey
and Amnesiac. I think buying their records in such an odd order has helped
to appreciate the multi-faceted nature of this band. I don't hunger for
the good old days of The Bends, because I know that I will always have
that record and it will always be brilliant. Likewise, I don't detest Kid
A. On the contrary, it's an awesome, intense listen that for me feels like
the perfect companion to OK Computer. This band do so much more for me
emotionally than any band in the world. I know there are those who just
don't like them, they can at times be too intense, too thorny, too whiny,
but they've opened up my eyes to a whole lot of other good music. Personally,
they're an inspiration.

always making good music. a great handful of stuff out there does suck
alot, and yea, maybe there are bands trying to sound like radiohead, but
thats them trying, they arent getting close to them, radiohead is my favorite
band, and they always will be, regardless of some stuff i read on the internet.
they make me feel good, and i would pay anything to see them play.

sam: Commercial pop music is just something
to satisfy the senses momentarily. Radiohead gets the cogs turning which
can be painful. In modern society we all work and play the same but what
we really want is to revert back to a baby like stage of life. A place
that feels like a constant dream. Floating between pure excasty and horrid
fear of simple obkects or ideas you don't understand. Eventually RadioHead
shows us where we want to go and what questions to ask to get there. When
I hear Thom singing I think of a new born baby sqealing "what the ****
is all this?". RadioHead will live forever for what they've done, can't
say the same for a lot of others.

Radiohead the way that they should. Hell, most people havn't even heard
of them. I however hold a
special place in my heart
and mind for the band, and it's a place
that few other bands even come close to. They allow a different perspective
on music, their songs are multidementional and colorful. I must admit though,
the first time i heard Radiohead i wasnt crazy about them. I remember thinking
"man, these guys are weird." But something about it kept me wanting to
listen to the same songs and cds over and over again. I became completely
obsessed with it. It became hard to concentrate in school because the only
thing going through my head was karma police, or there there, or pyramid
song, or... I should quit before i get ahead of myself, if it hasn't already
happened. But the point im trying to get to is that Radiohead is a band
that hase to grow on you, and this is why alot of people don't realy like
them. in my case there was some unknown force at work that kept drawing
me to their music. the thing is though, once it does grow on you, your
hooked for life. Well I could go on and on, but seeing that its four in

But really, it's just another article about music that takes itself too
seriously to analyze the material with the intellectual depth that leads
to an inferred admission that the author may very well be wrong, which
is a much less egocentric and self-important way of presenting oneself.
I despise music magainzes that do this. I do not the despise the people
that do this, it takes someone who is not only intelligent, but reasonably
self-effacing as well. Which brings me to the point, this is a ****ing

officially the first person to ever mention Kid Rock and Radiohead in the
same sentence. Maybe if RH had a foul-mouthed drarf in their band (rest

Please hurry up with your new album, I

seem to find it depressing - no accounting for taste. Anyone want to chat

Andy Art: I think it's quite ironic that Coldplay
is one of the biggest bands in the world now, creating music that sounds
like Radiohead 10 years ago. Don't get me wrong, I love Coldplay, I just
think this is a true testament to how innovative and influential Radiohead
really is. They are an amazing band, you don't have to understand them
to like them, just try to appreciate the creativity and individuality of
their music.

Jesus: Trent, it helps to have a critical opinion
of the current (computer-aged) music. If not, you can enjoy the overplayed
radio songs of the 90s.

Ryan: Radiohead is by far the most innovative
group of the past 15 to 20 years,
but the reason that I love their music
so much is that they speak to that part of myself that hides behind my
persona.
Artists will always have detractors,but
with Radiohead people often miss the point, or don't have the intelligence
or the will to see the finer points of their songs and the optimism behind
them...Long live Radiohead!!!

individuals who cannot allow themselves to expand their musical tastes.
too many people are quick to hate on something different or unexpected.
each radiohead album is clearly distinct, yet they maintain cohesiveness
within themselves with solid song writing and exceptional musicianship.
to truly understand radiohead their whole collection must be considered
to realize the evolution of their sound.

has their taste in music,it's personal. And you devoting your time writing
an article about the ban RADIOHEAD, even furhers my point, you can't get
away from them, they are taking over the music world, and showing everyone
at their feet how, its done.

OKC, when i bought KID A i didnt get it, its not the most accessible of
albums, but on repeated listens you can see it for what it is, genius.
As for their live shows, i've never seen
anyone better live, beck came close but radiohed are top of my list

Nikki: I love Radiohead. Who else could belt
out hits like "Just", "Fake Plastic Trees" and "Street Spirit" as well
as "I Might Be Wrong" and "Like Spinning Plates". The diversity and breadth
of talent, not to mention the amazing live shows, mark Radiohead as one
of the greatest talents of our generation. The music might not be your
cup of tea, but don't criticise it. Just toddle of too your Britney Spears
and McFly's.

The Dibs Man: As an avid fan, I've been trying to understand
Radiohead's music for nearly the last 4 years. Their music connects with
listeners on an intellectual and emotional level. They write about love,
urban existentialism, social commmentary, rabbits disease, and whatever
comes to their head. If you want to listen to music about bitches, cars,
and money that you don't have and probably never will, then go ahead. If
you want to listen to music that connects with you on a personal level,
then embrace radiohead and what they have done for music.

kidrockyeah!!!!: While I'll never say that anyone's opinion
isn't a worthy read, I really couldn't disagree more with this article.
All that matters is that we have the possibility of a new Radiohead record
soon. And i'm still laughing that kid rock is quoted as if his comment
on music of any kind makes the article relevant.

Redhotjammingpumpkinhead: It is a common misconception that Radiohead
have ditched their guitars in favour of computers, I have seen them live,
and not once throughout the entire set did any song lack a guitar! They
have 3 very talented guitarists for heavens sake!!! What has changed is
the mix, the mood, the search for new sounds and ways to explore their
musical flare. In my mind, the music that Radiohead produces is only depressing
to those who are depressed, I find their music uplifting and a real breath
of fresh air compared to the highly processed factory pop that young kids
are brought up on these days. All music has its place, and if it does nothing
for you, then don't listen. But don't mock what you don't understand. one
day you may become enlightened and find something there you had never dreamed
there could be and you will understand the feelings of others.

anonymous for fear of: Regardless of whether or not they are
receding into their own 'musical cocoon' (as the writer so aptly put it)
or whether Kid Rock thinks they should party more, I and many other people
love their music.
So, in summary:
- Kid Rock is an arrogant idiot
- Many people like radiohead; some like
earlier, some like later, but a lot of people like them.
- this is an attention-seeker's article
denouncing them because kids draw pictures of 'free suicide booths' when
listening to them.
Surely just one good point comes out of
this: it's obviously untrue that the ten-year-old kids of today have no
sense of humour.
But I guess you're entitled to your opinion.

we are friends till we die: I think its pathetic that Kid rock even
had the nerve to denouce radiohead, and furthermore that he is recognised
as a "musician". radiohead are incredible and no matter how fast or slow
music is, that has nothing to do with its quality.

Android: Radiohead is a band that you come back
to listen too. they are well before there time, and the sad part is that
many people dont understand or get into their music. There music is really
high energy, like techno build ups, or reaching peaks that put you in a
trance or a high state of mind. I believe they are making the most intelligent
music out there too date

Itchy: People are stupid, industry knows it and
thats why weve got all this teenage crap.
We need to know about what Paris Hilton
wears, smells and makes up with,
we need to know how Justins house is,
we need to know what every damn pop star
does cause we want to be like them.
Lets face it; each one of us is more worried
about the nipple on the red carpet than our emotions.
But u know why this is? (Weve gotta blame
someone, thats what a human does by nature)
Do you have any idea of it?
Well, this is because weve tired of Nevermind,
weve tired of Pablo Honey, tired of Joshua Tree and Mellon Collie and
the Infinite Sadness.
If u dont like something then just turn
your back and look somewhere else, there r tons of people trying to find
out the cure to this illness.

rock spectacle ever known to man. Lights, acoustic and electric guitars,
Johnny Greenwood kirking out, more lights, pianos and keyboards, Phil's
bald noggen, Thom's magnificent voice, synthesizers, drum machines, voice
recorders, and oh yeah... the most brilliantly synchronized lights show
of any rock show out there. To any Radiohead skeptic/hater... go see them
live, boss.

don't stay in the same place twice, they're like the rain, when you go
out to the street and no matter what, you want and love the second when
you don't feel dry because you don't listen the same thing once again,
and again, and again like in the radio stations, the artist are not the
same... but their music is, so... you get bored of listening the same histories,
the same sounds,,, it's like the same crap from different asses, I hope
you get it, and excuse my orthography, my native Languaje is spanish

Siaynoq: I always fantasize about the kinds of
music videos I'd like to make for Radiohead songs. I think their music
leaves so much to the imagination. I how when I'll hear one of their songs,
whether it's one I just heard for the first time, or over and over again,
I'll not know what to make of it. When I first heard Pulk/Pull, I really
didn't get it. Yet I knew there was something there. And then it hit me
one day, "Oh man! This would go awesome with some footage of a bunch of
crash test dummies." Radiohead is also one of my favorite bands when I
go on night hikes. Makes me fantasize about getting lost and accidentally
discovering some huge bear chained to a pole in the middle of a round slab
on concrete, right in the middle of the woods (based on a dream I had once).
It's hard for me to understand sometimes why some people don't like the
newer Radiohead stuff. I started listening to the band in the early nineties
so it was interesting to see them change as my life changed with it. I
did feel a bit disapointed when I saw them in concert cause they only played
stuff off their albums when I really wanted to hear certain b-sides which
are among some of the best songs ever.

Red_Shift: Pablo Honey is the most impressive album
I've ever heard (I'm not saying it is the best) because it was released
in 1993, making an album like that in the very early 90s is just something
out of this world. Creep is the black sheep though, everybody knows this
song and in my opinion it has little to do with what Radiohead is.
I'm eager to see what they'll come up
with the next album, it's good to know it's going to be something different,
I hope they cross another genre and reinvent it.

There are endless variations and colors to sound out there. Why can't people
appreciate what they've been doing lately. Kid A is definately the most
beautiful album I've listened to thus far. The only thing I liked about
this article were the quotes... which were thankfully overused here.

I am Optomistic: There are different types of people and
different types of entertainment. Unfortunatly some people only appreciate
some. There is Music and Movies that suck but are fun (Michael Bay movies)
then there are great films (Kubrick) Same with music if you want to sit
back and just have fun pop in a crappy kid rock cd but if you want to enlightened
and hear something revolutionary, original and beautiful then listen to
Radiohead. Sorry but i fine art entertaining, not crap...

April: Their best record is always the last one
that came out. The next person who "mourns" that Radiohead will never return
to their 90s sound should be dragged out into the street and shot. And
by the way, moron, they still do use guitars sometimes. You have not been
paying attention.

Who said that entertaining movies had to have a good ending? Are people
that depressed that they can't get through an hour of music that requires
listening? Or unable to sit through a 2 hour movie that requires watching?
Radiohead is to music what the greatest independent filmakers are to Hollywood.
