Meteora debuts at No. 1 on the charts in the U.S., U.K., Ireland, Austria, and Switzerland. It landed the No. 2 spot in Holland and Australia, No 3. in France and No. 4 in Finland and Brazil.
Considering the massive sales for Hybrid Theory, Linkin Parks sophomore effort was expected to do well. Although they didnt reach platinum sales in the U.S. the first week as expected but they came close with sales of 811,000 copies of Meteora in America.
The band will hit the road to support the album next week. Their second annual Projekt Revolution tour will kick off on April 8th in Rochester, New York. And in a show of support for American serviceman and women the band is giving them free admission to the concerts.
"We feel the need to give back to these making personal sacrifices for our country," said guitarist Brad Delson in a statement. "So, we've set aside tickets in every city we're playing to invite armed-services personnel and their families to attend the shows for free.
"Our hope is that during this difficult and challenging time, these special guests enjoy a moment of entertainment and fun."
