The cable music network reports that a source close to Newsted has said that the former Metallica bass player plans to go to Los Angeles next week and jam with Ozzy and his group (which now includes Zakk Wylde and Mike Bordin). 

It would be a curious move for Newsted who insist that his new gig with Canadian metaler’s Voivod is his prime gig. 

Voivod’s new album featuring Newsted on bass is set to hit stores next week and the word on the street is that a tour is planned for this spring with Sepultura.

Word has it that Voivod just inked a deal with Ozzfest for a 2nd stage appearance. While this isn’t confirmed at press time, the word on the street is it is a done deal and official announcement will be made soon.  Until then we have to operate on the assumption that this is just a rumor. But if these two things play out then Jason will be pulling a Zakk Wylde this summer, playing with two bands on the summer tour. (provided he joins Ozzy’s band and stays with Voivod.)
