Jack Black Leads 'School of Rock' to the Head of the Class

Jack Black rocked to the head of the box office
class this past weekend with his new film 'School of Rock'. The opening
weekend for the rock n' roll comedy grossed an impressive $20.2 million,
the fifth largest opening weekend for a film released in October and Black's
second largest opening behind "Shallow Hal".
The film was directed by Richard Linklater
(Slacker, Dazed and Confused, Before Sunrise) and is built around the premise
of Black as a struggling musician who takes a substitute teaching job at
a private school to help make ends meet. Once in the classroom he then
forms a rock band with his students.
The soundtrack to the film is an impressive
collection of classic rock that also includes an AC/DC cover by the film’s
student band.
