The ceremony began with LA Radio legend
Jim Ladd presenting the group with a citation from the Mayor of Los Angeles.
The mayor singled out the group for their contribution to music with their
brand of ballsy Rock. Ladd commented that it isnt everyday you
hear a politician use such language.
Ladd then called up Eric Singer (KISS, Alice Cooper, Badlands) to introduce and induct the members of Motorhead into the Hollywood Rock Walk. Lemmy, Mikkey Dee, and Phil Campbell approached the podium and all offered up a few words of thanks for the honor.
Then it was time for the formal induction, with each member placing their hand in two blocks of cement that will be placed on the Hollywood Rock Walk. Phil and Mikkey played it by the numbers but Lemmy characteristically gave the blocks of cement the finger. So for generations to come visitors to the Rock Walk will now find Phil and Mikkeys hand prints along with a big middle finger from Lemmy.
Seems only appropriate as a memorial for a band that stuck their middle finger up to convention and helped create a new force and style in Rock n Roll!
The band is scheduled to play a special induction party show tonight at the Whisky A Go Go. Line up for ticket purchase begins at 6:30PM with tickets going on sale at 8:00 for $30.00. Motorhead is scheduled to take the stage at 10:30PM.
antiMUSIC would like to congratulate Motorhead for their induction into the Hollywood Rock Walk and also thank them for almost 3 decades of kick ass-uncompromising rock!
Preview and purchase music from Motorhead .
