Below is a press release issued on Monday (Feb 9th) that details the tour and reunion.
PIXIES ANNOUNCE NORTH AMERICAN CONCERTS
The PIXIES have confirmed a series of North American concert dates, it is announced today. The group will kick off the eleven-city headline dates in Winnipeg, Canada on Wednesday, April 14, traveling through central and western Canada, then down the U.S. west coast, ending on Saturday, May 1 where they will co-headline (with Radiohead and Kraftwerk) the first night of the Coachella Music & Arts Festival held just outside of Palm Springs, CA. Those lucky enough to get tickets to the Pixies "warm up" dates will be able to see the band in intimate venues, making these reunion concerts that much more special.
As was confirmed last week, the Pixies, acclaimed as the most influential pioneer of the late '80s alt/rock movement, whose five albums and six years together blazed the path for groups like Nirvana, Radiohead and Pearl Jam to rise to superstardom, have decided to reunite and will share the stage together as a band for the first time since before they disbanded in 1993. All four members of the original line-up - Frank Black/vocals, guitar; Joey Santiago/guitar; Kim Deal/bass; and David Lovering/drums - are currently in Los Angeles rehearsing for the tour.
In addition to the reunion tour, fans can look forward to the release of "Pixies," a DVD featuring eight of the band's classic videos, a live concert from a London show in 1988, the definitive Pixies documentary entitled "Gouge," and "behind the scenes" footage. And if this isn't enough, a "best of" album with the working title "Wave of Mutilation - Best of Pixies" will also be released. No confirmed release date has been set for either the DVD or CD, but 4AD/The Beggars Group will have both in stores sometime this year.
The complete itinerary for the Pixies' "warm up" dates is listed below. There are no plans for additional dates to be announced on this tour.
