antiTainment NEWS: Spider-Man 2 Record Breaking Opening

‘Spider-Man 2’ spun a record breaking web since its release on Wednesday. Early estimates of the film’s five day take at the box office land in between $150 million to $155 million.  If the estimates are correct then “Spider-Man 2” will break the five day film opening record currently held by “Shrek 2”, which was set in May when that film earned $129 million.

The estimated box-office could climb much higher due to the Federal holiday on Monday.

Despite doubling the number of theatres it was shown in to 1725, last week’s No. 1--Michael Moore’s "Fahrenheit 9/11"--fell to No.2 with an estimated box-office of $17 million.
