antiTainment NEWS: Ferris Bueller Actor Arrested For Failing to Register As A Sex Offender

Actor Jeffrey Jones was arrested on July 1st at his Sarasota, Florida home after failing to register as a sex offender. He was later released on $1000 bail. Jones is best known for his role as Principal Ed Rooney in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” but he has played roles in various hit movies including “Amadeus”, “Beetlejuice”, “Sleepy Hollow”, “Ed Wood”, and “The Devil’s Advocate”. 

The 57-year-old actor was originally arrested in November of 2002, last July he plead no contest to child pornography charges. He was accused of hiring a 14-year-old boy to pose for sexually explicit photos, a felony and possession of child pornography, a misdemeanor. He was sentenced to five years probation, counseling and was required to register as a sex offender in his community. 

Jones, reportedly complied with his probation terms but when he moved last March, he failed to register as sex offender in his new community. The law requires that sex offenders register within 48 hours when they move. 

No word at press time about when Jones is required to appear in court.
