Can you think of anyone better to portray
Rick James in a film then Dave Chappelle? Apparently, producer Lorenzo
Di Bonaventura couldnt think of anyone either and is in early talks with
Chappelle to play the Super Freak in a film based on James forthcoming
book, "Memoirs of a Super Freak."
Di Bonaventura is currently trying to gain
the rights to the book for a Paramount Pictures feature film. The Hollywood
Reporter says that Di Bonaventura is looking to secure Chappelle for the
leading role, reprising the impersonation that he uses for some skits to
his Comedy Central sketch comedy program, "Chappelle's Show".
James is best known for his 1981 hit "Super
Freak (Part I)," as well as his wild offstage antics including a prison
stint for charges of assault and holding a woman against her will.
