Michael Jackson now has the first opportunity to defend himself in a court of law. The D.A. that is prosecuting Jackson on molestation charges has invited the singer to give testimony to the grand jury, which will decide whether there is enough evidence to proceed with a trial.

Many feel that the D.A., Tom Sneddon, went the grand jury route instead of holding a preliminary hearing, to avoid a media circus. Grand jury proceedings are not open to the public.

Jacksons ex-wife, Lisa Marie Presley, made headlines earlier this week when she gave an interview to an Australian television program and said that during her marriage to Jackson she "saw but couldn't do anything about".

After those remarks went public, media outlets reported that the D.A.s office expressed an interested in having Presley give testimony to the grand jury.

This prompted Presley to clarify her remarks in a press release. "I was in no way referring to seeing something inappropriate with children, as I have stated publicly before. I never have", Presley said in the statement.

"Unfortunately, due to the recent media frenzy surrounding Michael Jackson, my comments regarding him were completely taken out of context and erroneously read into.

"In saying I saw things, I was specifically referring to things in that relationship with us that went on between us at the time as husband and wife", she added.
