Tom
Hanks to Crack The Da Vinci Code?

.
(antiTainment) It looks like Tom Hanks is
the frontrunner to play Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon in the film
adaptation of Dan Brown bestselling book The Da Vinci Code. Hanks
is reportedly in negotiations with Columbia Pictures to play the role.
If Hanks signs on the dotted line, he will
once again team with director Ron Howard who is already onboard.
There is no word yet on who will play the leading lady in the film, cryptologist
Sophie Neveau.
The best selling book is a fast paced thriller
where Langdon and Neveau go on a quest for the real Holy Grail, with come
murder and intrigue tossed in for good measure. The book was adapted for
the screen by Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind) and is expected to begin
production next year.
Since the character of Langdon is the hero
of two of Brown's novels (as well as his next one), there is a possibility
of a new series based on the books.
