Slayer
Announce Jagermeister Music Tour Dates
09-08-04
.
(press release) Recognized as the pioneers
of the thrash/punk/metal sound that set a benchmark for the genre, the
mighty SLAYER will headline this fall's Jagermeister Music Tour, set to
kick off October 29 in Springfield, MO. The tour will rage across
the country for seven weeks, playing in some 37-cities. This will
be the second consecutive year that Slayer has headlined the tour.
Joining Slayer for the Jagermeister Music Tour fall dates will be Killswitch
Engage and Mastodon.
Slayer's Jagermeister tour follows the
band's summer dates on Ozzfest where they received glowing press.
A Cleveland weekly wrote, Slayer is arguably the greatest and most influential
thrash/speed metal band of all time, while the Reuters review noted, Slayer
was the only act whose intensity remains undiminished...unmatched.
Just before the Jagermeister dates kick
off, Slayer will co-headline a four-week, 21-city tour of the UK and Europe
with Slipknot.
On October 26, in tandem with the Jagermeister
Music tour, SLAYER will release the DVD "Still Reigning." The DVD
will feature, for the first time ever, the original Slayer line-up - Tom
Araya vocals, bass, guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, and drummer
Dave Lombardo (who permanently rejoined the band in 2003), performing an
entire concert live. The cornerstone of the DVD will be the 1986,
28-minute classic album "Reign In Blood," performed in its entirety.
During the final 45-seconds of the song "Raining Blood," "blood rains from
the heavens," completely drenching the band, their instruments, and the
stage. Hanneman unintentionally avoided the initial bloodbath as
he stepped offstage for just a moment to handle a problem with his guitar
and missed the cue, but was deluged as he stepped back onstage.
Still Reigning was directed by Dean Karr
(Iron Maiden's "Rock in Rio, the groundbreaking "Sweet Dreams" for Marilyn
Manson), and was shot in July at the Civic Center in Augusta, ME.
Ten cameras, including three hand-held mini-DVs, captured Slayer throughout
the day and evening, filming an abundance of footage and interviews shot
backstage, on the bands tour bus, and live on stage.
It's been more than 20 years since Slayer
unleashed its extreme and focused sonic assault, and, unlike many of their
contemporaries who "commercialized"
