U2 Announce Tour, Tap Kings of Leon for Support
01-23-05
.
(antiMUSIC) Update: U2 have selected Kings of Leon as support for the U.S. leg of their forthcoming Vertigo World Tour.  The tour is set to kick off on March 28th at the San Diego Sports Arena. At press time, the unofficial word out of the U2 is that the U.S. leg of the tour will run until May with the final show in Boston.

A second U.S. leg of 30 arena dates are expected in late summer after a 30 date European leg that kicks off on June 10th in Belgium.

Confirmed dates for the world tour will be released on Monday and according to a press release from a promotion company for the Kings of Leon tickets will begin to go on sale on January 29th.   According to the press release, "Similar to U2's Elevation Tour in 2001, the Vertigo dates will feature approximately 17-hundred general-admission seats on arena floors, giving fans a chance to see the group close-up."

U2 is offering their online subscribers access to presale tickets.

U2.com reports: There are plenty of misleading stories out there about dates and venues, but the real dates, cities and venues will be officially announced on U2.Com on Monday - along with information on tickets.

Fans who have paid to become SUBSCRIBERS of U2.Com will have the oppertunity to purchase tickets - a few days ahead of the general sale.

We have secured a limited number of these advance-sale tickets for U2.Com Subscribers. They will be able to buy 2 tickets for a seated venue (USA) and 4 tickets for an outdoor show (Europe).

Once the tour is announced U2.Com subscribers will receive an email with ticketing purchase information sent to their email address.
