Grohl on Cobain

(antiMusic - Trent McMartin Special Report) Foo Fighter frontman Dave Grohl spoke candidly recently to Austin Scaggs of Rolling Stone about his relationship with the late Kurt Cobain. When asked why Cobain or Nirvana made him feel so insecure, Grohl replied, When I joined Nirvana I was the fifth or sixth drummer -- I dont know if theyd ever had a drummer they were totally happy with. And they were strangers. There was never much of a deeper connection outside of the music.

The usually private Grohl has never really publicly discussed Cobain at such great length as he does in this interview touching upon various topics as Cobains sometime dissatisfaction with Grohls drumming, the pressure of being in Nirvana, the MTV Unplugged performance and the time leading up to Cobains death.

Grohls other famous band The Foo Fighters are currently out on the road supporting their latest release, the double album In Your Honor, which hit number two on the billboard album charts. The band will be kicking off its Canadian tour next month before heading out to Europe.
