Mel
Gibson Vs Metal Band
03-15-05
.
(antiMUSIC) Mel Gibson has sent his legal
guns after the Swedish metal band In Aeternum. According Blabbermouth.net,
Gibson's attorneys have threaten the death/black metal band and their record
label, Agonia Records, with a lawsuit over the cover art to the group's
mini CD "No Salvation," which reportedly used a photo from Gibson's "The
Passion of the Christ". Blabbermouth reports that the label has been
forced to pull the mini-CD from stores to avoid litigation.
The band offered the following statement:
"IN AETERNUM appologizes[sic] for any problems we may have caused by using
the picture from the motion picture 'The Passion of the Christ'. We did
not intend to interfere with any copyright laws and was not aware of the
fact that it belonged to that particular motion picture. Apologies to Mel
Gibson and Icon Productions."
