Collective Soul Stop Traffic in NYC

(Press Release) Authorities cut short multi-platinum rockers COLLECTIVE SOUL’s free concert in New York’s Times Square when the NYPD decided the crowd had swelled to a dangerous degree. The Saturday (September 24) night performance--part of the “MSpot In Times Square” concert series--attracted more than 10,000 people, causing the traffic to stop on the Great White Way. COLLECTIVE SOUL--founders ED ROLAND (vocals/guitars/keyboards), DEAN ROLAND (guitars) and WILL TURPIN (bass/percussion) along with JOEL KOSCHE (guitars) and RYAN HOYLE (drums)--were only able to make it through three songs (their classics “Shine,” “December” and “Heavy”) before the plug was pulled under threat of arrests to the band and crew. The set was to include material from COLLECTIVE SOUL’s current YOUTH release (El Music Group), which has amassed sales of 200,000 copies. Marking their debut release on their own label, it features the Top Five hit “Counting The Days,” the Top Ten hit “Better Now,” as well as the newly released single, “How Do You Love?,” one of the most added songs at radio over the last two weeks. Next up for COLLECTIVE SOUL: a leg of SOLD OUT tour dates in Canada, before they return to the U.S. for additional shows in October through the end of the year. Meanwhile, look for a new release from the band in early 2006 (details TBA).
