Major Vie Release

04/13/06
.
(antiMusic) UMe Digital, the world's first digital major label, has announced the release date for the solo debut of Enuff Z'nuff frontman Donnie Vie. The album ironically entitled "Just Enough" will be available through UMe Digital on April 25th.

In related news, Vie has just inked a deal with Cargo records to release "DVieD: Baby Pictures" in Europe. The cargo version of the DVD will feature several different video clips from the domestic version including a brand new music video for the song "Code Red" as well as a duet with John Corabi on the Beatles classic "Don't Let Me Down". The Cargo version will also be package with a bonus EP that features three new original tracks (Code Red, I Love the Way, Somewhere) as well as three cover tunes (Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Country Roads, If you could read my mind). Release date TBA.

Vie is currently hard at work on material for his next solo record aside from his commitments with Enuff Z'nuff. Members of his online club were blown away by the recent preview of the demo track for "Roll Away," a song that will be included on the next CD. The release by UMe Digital may be 'just enough' to hold them over.

UMe Digital releases are available at all of the top online retailers and music services including Apple iTunes Music Store, Napster, Tower Records Online, Microsoft Music Service, Virgin Digital, MusicNet, Liquid/Walmart.com, Real/Rhapsody, MusicMatch, MusicNow, Sony Connect, FYE online and BuyMusic.com.

Just Enough bio (written by antiMusic's very own Keavin Wiggins)

By the time most artists release their third or fourth album they have lost their perspective of what made them dream of rock stardom in the first place. They may have been eaten alive by the major label machine or perhaps taken in by the allure of stardom and all that comes with it--sex, drugs, fame and inflated egos.

Donnie Vie has been through it all but he never lost that special spark within that first compelled him to pick up a guitar and start singing and writing music. He seemed to have been born with a natural talent that set him apart from even multi-platinum artists. That talent has been recognized by not only fans the world over but by rock journalists ranging from Rolling Stone, Spin Magazine, the King of All Media Howard Stern to enthusiastic online 'Zines. But the most important praise comes from Donnie's peers-a list of supporters that includes musical legends Robert Plant, Paul Stanley, Paul Gilbert, Cheap Trick and even Paul McCartney. All see in Vie not only a golden throat but also a masterful songwriter. Some have gone as far as to call Donnie Vie the John Lennon of this generation; a distinction that Donnie laughs off but is very real to his fans and admirers.

Like Lennon, Donnie never ceases to amaze people with his ever-expanding body of work. He is not afraid to try new things and explore different musical territories. Many are astonished when they look over that body of work; not only by its diversity but also by its quality. Unlike most artists, whose songwriting tends to fall into a rut after a few years, Donnie seems to have the ability to tap into an unrestrained stream of creativity year after year, song after song and more importantly he only seems to get better with each note and lyric.

Now, with thirteen albums to his credit with Enuff Z'nuff, Donnie Vie has set out to top himself once more and to stretch the boundaries of his songwriting with his first solo album, Just Enough.

The music that makes up Just Enough has been part of Donnie's musical vision for some time. He began work on some of the songs as far back as 1996 when he left his native Chicago to visit his friend Andrew Rollins (Joe Walsh, Eric Carmen, The Left Bank) in California and began the songwriting process for a project they named FireFlys.

Sitting poolside at Rollin's Los Angeles home, Donnie was able to explore the most melodic sides to his musical personality and write the songs that he had always dreamed of writing but he felt didn't quite fit the hard rocking nature of Enuff Z'nuff.

Tours and albums with Enuff Z'nuff followed and the FireFlys project was put on the back burner. But that all changed in the summer of 2001 when Donnie met the love of his life (and future wife) while on an arena tour of North America with Poison. Torn between his roots in Chicago and his heart, Donnie decided to follow his heart and moved to Los Angeles.

Once he relocated to southern California and set up a home studio, Donnie felt free to once again resume work on his solo material. Whether it was the L.A. smog, the sunshine and warm weather, or the love of his new wife, Donnie felt inspired to look deep within to create some of the best music of his career.

The results speak for themselves. Donnie was once again able to tap into various sides of his musical personality and produce an exciting array of new songs ranging from the hook-happy choruses of "Spider Web," the melodic and reflective "Better Days," the Lennonesque polish of "I'll Go On," to the somber and heartfelt ballad "Forever". Rounding out the CD, he sharpens his talents on the groove injected "Jesus In Drag" and the emotionally potent "That's What Love Is". It only takes one listen to this material to see that these songs are instant classics with chart topping potential.

Through the 12 tracks, Donnie once again wears his heart on his sleeve and gives listeners a glimpse into his soul, but he also brings to the table his masterful songwriting skill that shows that Donnie has once again beaten the odds and topped himself. He may not be the household name he deserves to be, but has again given the world twelve more reasons to love him. To his fans and peers, he has given another reassurance of their devotion and respect.

Most people are Donnie Vie fans; they just don't know it yet. Just Enough, gives them another opportunity to fall in love with this gifted songsmith. The irony of the album title is not lost on those who have heard this impressive disc; for these 12 songs are more than enough to solidify the notion of fans, critics and peers who say that Donnie is one of the most gifted musicians of this generation.
