And the Grammy goes to…

02/09/06
.
(antiMusic) Egotistical proclamations aside, Kanye West didn't get his wish as Bono and company took home the Album of the Year honors at the 48th Annual Grammy Awards on Wednesday for their album How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. In total U2 took home 5 awards to add to their collection. Record of the year went to Green Day for "Boulevard of Broken Dreams".

Mariah Carey was the favorite going into Wed night, but U2 made her settle for 3 awards. Ironically the same number of awards that same U2 album won at last year's awards. To add insult to injury she was awarded her 3 Grammys off camera.

System of a Down took home the Hard Rock Performance Grammy for "B.Y.O.B." while Slipknot nabbed the Metal one for "Before I Forget". Meanwhile The White Stripes' "Get Behind Me Satan" won for Alternative Music Album.
