(Cornerstone) 2005's Red Tandy EP (Camera) provided a warm welcome return for Bay Area's Mother Hips from a four year recording hiatus. The band begins work on their sixth studio record on February 10, 2006 in San Francisco, CA. The Red Tandy EP and 7-inch release garnered critical praise, and was embraced by a handful of influential radio stations including KCRW and WXPN. The band continues its creative momentum and will record a batch of freshly-written material adding a more mature approach to the existing Mother Hips patented California soul sound. The record will be co-produced by The Mother Hips and Dylan Magierek (Mark Kozelek, Erlend Oye, Call and Response) and is tentatively scheduled for a Fall 2006 release on New York City based Camera Records.
There will also be two Mother Hips solo/side project outings to be released Spring 2006; the "psychedelicate" debut LP by Sensations (features Hips' members Greg Loiacono and Paul Hoaglin and former-Cake drummer Todd Roper) and the sophomore LP release by Ball-Point Birds, an acoustic collection of songs served up by Hips' frontmen songwriters Tim Bluhm Greg Loiacono.
