(antiMusic) The Sex Pistols have told the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame where they can stuff their induction. Steve Jones, Johnny Rotten (John Lydon) and Glen Matlock have each spoken out about the induction of the band next month at a "gala black tie affair".
Steven Jones opened his radio show on Los Angeles Indie 103.1 on Friday with these words, "We're not going to the museum. You can shove it. You can have it," according to SexPistols.net.
Glen Matlock told The Independent on Sunday, "It's nothing to do with the bands - it's all to do with business. When I first heard about it I was quite excited... but then I found I was going to have to pay thousands of pounds to take my kids. It's just a big corporate event, a bunch of Herberts in suits... just a money-making opportunity for multi-million shysters."
And the most outspoken of the ex-Pistols John Lydon aka Johnny Rotten posted his thoughts in a handwritten note on his official website on Friday. "Next to the Sex Pistols rock and roll and that hall of fame is a piss stain. Your museum. Urine in wine. Were not your monkey and so what? Fame at $25,000 if we paid for a table or $15,000 to squeak up in the gallery, goes to a non-profit organization selling us a load of old famous. Congradulations. If you voted for us, I hope you noted your reasons. Your anonymous as judges. but your still music industry people. Were not coming. Your not paying attention. Outside the shit-stem is a real Sex Pistol."
Hopefully, Black Sabbath who were passed over for years, will take a cue and tell the (c)Rock Hall where they can stick their induction too. Or at least Ozzy can pay the same honor to the (c)Rock Hall that he paid to the Alamo.
Rant or Rave? Your turn, post your comments and thoughts on this news item. But hey keep it clean, we wouldn't want to have to wash your mouth out with Old Spice.

That is the coolest thing Ive heard in a while. Maybe if Kurt Cobain understood he too could still be anti corporate well into his 40's and 50's, he might not have killed himself.

A real good book about punk music: "Please Kill me". Almost all text is interviews with the CBGB crowd. Funny, insightful stuff. Most give the Stooges (Iggy Pop) and the MC5 credit for the whole punk movement (one promoter said "They are not musicians. They are criminals with instruements"), years ahead of the Sex Pistols.

All these years, I never gave a damn about Punk bands and what Punk stands for... This forces me to reconsider my own attitude towards Punksters as I give a double THUMBS UP to the SEX PISTOLS for standing up against the lame corporate bull$hit the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame represents. The bands and the fans... that's where Rock n Roll is... not in a fu-cking building. I hope BLACK SABBATH don't turn up for their induction either. Black tie & dinner? Clueless nimrods never discovered what Rock is all about.

these guys are ****ing legit. props to them for passing up such a huge piece of fame and popularity. it just shows that they seriously care about the music and who they are and not the icing that comes with being celebs.
