Ozzfest of 06

03/10/06
.
(antiMusic) The lineup for this year's $haron…. err Ozzfest has been announced. System of a Down tops the bill with Disturbed, Hatebreed, Lacuna Coil and an as yet announced band rounding out the main stage.

The second stage will feature headliners Black Label Society along with Atreyu, Unearth, Bleeding Through and Norma Jean in the top slots with the following bands in rotating spots: A Life Once Lost, Strapping Young Lad, The Red Chord, Full Blown Chaos, Walls Of Jericho, All That Remains and Between The Buried And Me.

Rumor has it that N 'Sync has been offered that last main stage slot but the big money is on Avenged Sevenfold filling it. An official announcement will be made on May 23rd according to the Sharon camp.

Ozzfest without Ozzy? It will be an Ozzyless Ozzfest for half of this year's tour as the Ozzman will only perform at 10 of the 20 scheduled stops. "…after 10 years I feel it's time to let someone else share the headlining spotlight. We want to shake it up a bit this year," Ozzy said in a statement. "I've closed virtually every Ozzfest performance for a decade now and I feel I can finally let other artists headline our festival and that's my intention for the future."

What can the fans that are lucky enough be at the gigs with Ozzy expect? According to the statement, "The tour will mark Ozzy Osbourne's first solo concerts in three years (having headlined Ozzfest with Black Sabbath in 2005 and 2004) and the 20th anniversary of guitarist Zakk Wylde being in his band. Ozzy will be debuting a new song at Ozzfest from the solo album that he's currently working on with Zakk (release date TBA). The as-yet-untitled disc will be Ozzy's first solo album of new material since 2001."

Ozzfest will face some fierce competition this year as Slayer has called on some more of the heavyweights in metal for an Unholy Alliance tour that not only features Slayer along with Lamb of God, Children of Bodom, Mastodon, and Thine Eyes Bleed but will also have cheaper tickets. see story And let's not forget that the Gigatour is expected to roll out again this year.

Twelve of the twenty stops have been announced (the date and cities at least.) Here they are, now go break into that college fund so you can get tickets.

I would like to see Godsmack finish out the line up on Ozzfest 2006 tour. I know they aren't much like some others on the list but i think they would go good this year with disturbed and SOAD.

I Think this year is a huge dissapointment. I mean comon man Lacuna coil when I saw them In "04" They blew! How are they Headlineng

Posted by Pb:
Hey Smoke too much, Metal core and harcore is whats kicking. And like everyone else said, if you dont like it then go jerk off to chicago records.I think the best Ozzfest was 04 with Lamb of God, Unearth, Darkest Hour, Hatebreed, unfortunantly Slipknot. (But a good expereience being I have never seen them before), and so many more. That one was great!

Posted by The Devistation:
The death of ozz fest is upon us. To think not long ago you could see slipknot and pantera in the same day. I wouldnt drive 50 miles to see this show

Posted by dAVID:
oh yeah and Avenged Sevenfold would be the perfect addition to this years Ozzfest

Posted by dAVID:
first of all kittie your right, dick smoker doesnt know what the **** hes talkin about and i happen to think this years Ozzfest will be one of the best yet!

Posted by kittie:
And also dick-smoker, the fact that you are sitting in front of a computer being a sophomoric jackass is the PATHETIC thing. How old are you and yet there you sit, probably without a girlfriend, bashing other humans as though your view of them matters even in the slightest bit.

Posted by kittie:
Hey man who smokes too much dick, if you took the time to consider lyrics and music that actually means something, then this years Ozzfest wouldnt suck so horribly in your high and mighty opinion. No one is making you go. You can stay home and jack off to some Chicago records or something.

Posted by rockcandy:
ROB Zombie / Mudvane/ SevenDust- any would be a perfect addition

Posted by ROCKCANDY:
SOAD & Disturbed
Two of the best shows of '05 I have only missed one Oz fest. I allready have a ticket for Detroit. WooWhooo! *starts happy dance*

Posted by DADDY:
TheManWhoSmokesTooMuch should change his name to the man who sucks too much dick.

Posted by scared:
that NSync thing was a joke, right?

Posted by TheManWhoSmokesTooMuch:
Oh yeah, and nu-metal too! Hooray!

Posted by TheManWhoSmokesTooMuch:
Easily the worst ozzfest line-up since Korn and Chevelle were on the main stage. This is just laughably pathetic emo-core/metal-core fest

...end
