iPod Coverage Week: centerstage

06/12/07
.
(Keavin Wiggins) 5+ years and 100 million iPods sold. The era of the iPod is in full swing and these cool little devices are addicting! But it doesn't just stop after you buy one; you have to outfit it for your lifestyle. Charges, speakers, and adapters. We're here to help you a little with accessorizing your investment in the iPod. (Which isn't cheap by any standards.) We'll kick off with the only essential accessory: iPod cases. After spending over $200 on an iPod the last thing you want to do is damage it and trust me those screens can get scratched easily. And what happens when you drop your iPod? We won't even go there as this isn't the Apple 3! (computer historians will get that bit). This week we'll be looking at a variety of iPod cases (for 5g / video iPods) with brief reviews (many of these cases have Nano versions so don't worry).

centerstage: Today's case is the centerstage for iPod video. The general make-up is similar to the iClear that we covered yesterday, except the back panel is more opaque. The major difference is the inclusion of the flip-around desktop stand. Basically this case lets you to stand you're iPod upright on your table top allowing easy glance access to your screen and click wheel controls. The stand snaps into the front of the case over the click wheel when not in use and easily flips around when you need it. (hint: to get the stand to snap in properly, when putting the cover on, put your iPod in the back of the case, then snap the front on. If you do it front first you might not be able to get the stand to snap in). It comes with backs for both the 30 and 60 gig iPods and like the iClear is a little difficult to open once you snap your iPod in. (a coin in the provided notch will do the trick) This is a table-top case so you won't get a belt clip. The review case we received had a black stand but these do come in a variety of colors and they are not limited to just the iPod. You can check out all of the options at the full story link. We'll be back tomorrow with one of the coolest cases on the market! - Click here for the Full Story
