(PR) As a reaction to the outcry of internet radio stations about the recently-proposed royalty rate hike, SoundExchange offered up the Small Webcaster Settlement Act (SWSA) on May 22nd as a cushion for these companies. This supposed act of grace by SoundExchange, the company that collects and distributes royalties from internet radio, would give small internet webcasters three more years before having to pay the increase, while the bigger internet stations would still be accountable to shell out their amplified royalty fees in mid-July.
