Welcome to the Suck

(PR) What's wrong with having a little bit of fun with rock n' roll? The Rezidudes are certainly unhappy with the current over-serious state of rock n' roll and this Manchvegas, New Hampshire-based quintet are ready to do something about it with their April 1st (yep, April Fool's Day) release for Screaming Ferret Wrecords, 'Welcome to the Suck.'

Think South Cali pop punk (Me First and the Gimme Gimme's, Avail, No Use for a Name, etc.) with heavy metal guitars, and you're not far off from the Rezidudes' musical forte. But instead of specializing in original compositions, the quintet takes well-known songs from the 50's through the 80's and transforms them into metal/punk party anthems - including Simon and Garfunkel's "The Boxer", John Denver's "Country Roads" and even the "Theme from Cheers", among others.

Comprised of Shannon Verfaillie (vocals), Meliah Rage's Jim Koury (guitar), Kevin Cornish (guitar), Jimbo Ormiston (bass), and Andre Dube (drums), The Rezidudes are (according to Cornish) ".a group of life long friends who enjoy getting together once a week to live out our mid-life crisis, rock and roll fantasies and have a good time. In a nut shell, we get a kick out of taking tired old mellow songs that everybody knows and giving them a swift kick in the ass. Picture the evil offspring of Carly Simon and Joey Ramone if you would."
