Idol Winner
05/24/07
.
(PR) The latest round of America's favorite karaoke contest is over and the winner is!!! Fox's ad sales department. The winner of the TV contest was Jordin Sparks who beat out Blake Lewis for the Idol crown. The show reportedly logged a record 74 million votes this time around as 17-year-old Sparks became the youngest winner in the show's history. The finale brought on some heavy weights to close out what many considered the "worst season yet". The two finalist took a backseat to performers like Smokey Robinson, Tony Bennett, Gladys Knight, Kelly Clarkson and Green Day performing John Lennon's "Working Class Hero". Gwen Stefoni also performed to show the nation again how she lost most of her No Doubt fan base. So there you have it. This season's American Idol comes to a close and Fox's rating will return to their regularly schedule low numbers until the karaoke returns next season for six months of audition episodes.
