The original show scheduled for November 8th at the Brixton Academy sold out in just 10 minutes and never refusing a chance to cash-in in true punk style, the Sex Pistols (John Lydon, Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock) added to new dates at the venue for the following two nights BUT while the original show was priced at 37.50 a ticket (roughly $75 bucks), these new shows seemed aimed at the richer punks with tickets going for 85 (roughly $170) according to Gigwise.
Some consider The Sex Pistols the first UK punk band, however that honor goes to The Damned who made it to the record stores first with the first punk single "New Rose" and their debut album "Damned Damned Damned." The Damned also were the first UK punk group to play in America (opening for T. Rex). The Pistols on the other hand were the brainchild of Malcolm McLaren who put the group together when he saw the punk wave coming. McLaren made a brilliant move using a formula boyband managers would use decades later to great effect as well.
