(PR) Zucchero, the Italian superstar who has been a fixture on the European music scene for more than two decades embarks on a North American tour this week that will bring him before U.S. audiences for the first time in six years. Zucchero, who has performed and recorded with such luminaries as Eric Clapton, Sheryl Crow, John Lee Hooker, B.B. King, Bono, Sting, Solomon Burke and long-time mentor Luciano Pavarotti, will play New Yorks Carnegie Hall later this week.

The tour will be followed by the November 23rd release of All The Best, from Verve Forecast. The album, an overview of Zuccheros phenomenal recording career, includes four newly recorded songs with repertoire, as on the tour dates, sung in both English and Italian.

The tour kicks off in Boston, going on play a mix of Canadian and U.S. dates including Detroit, Toronto and Philadelphia culminating with a run of California dates in mid-October. An intermezzo in the tour schedule will find Zucchero back in New York where he will perform as part of the citys fabled Columbus Day Parade on October 8th.

Before departing Italy for the tour, Zucchero commented, Im really looking forward to performing in the U.S. after so long. Because so much of my musical inspiration comes from America, this is a very special and exciting situation for me. Zuccheros touring band is an amalgam of Italian and American musicians including Adriano Molinari (drums), Mario Schiliro (guitar), E Street Band veteran David Sancious (keyboards), guitarist Kat Dyson who had been in Cyndi Laupers band and Paul Howard Jones (bass) whose place in Zuccheros band had earlier been occupied by Randy Jackson, now serving on American Idols panel of judges.
