Earlier this year, Mari Digby rose to the forefront of singer/songwriters after garnering more than 5 million views on YouTube for her version of Rihanna's "Umbrella". Since then, she now claims the number 7 spot for the most subscribed musicians of all time on the channel. Just a few months ago, Mari's acoustic version of the Rihanna hit "Umbrella" debuted at No. 40 on the Billboard Adult Top 40 while Rihanna's original at was at No. 37, which marked the first time in the history of the Adult Top 40 list that versions by two different artists of the same song have charted simultaneously.
"Mari is such a gifted singer and songwriter and we couldn't be more exciting about her upcoming album," said Bob Cavallo, CEO Hollywood Records. "She connects with her songs and her audience on such a deeply personal level and this album reflects it."
Mike Daly (Whiskeytown) and Tom Rothrock (James Blunt) produced the album which strongly showcases the singer/songwriter's upbeat acoustic pop melodies and smart, honest lyrics. All thirteen songs on the album were penned by Digby with the exception of "Umbrella." Two of her original songs, "Stupid for You," and "Say It Again," also debuted nationally on the hit MTV show "The Hills," while another original, "Spell" debuted on the CW Network show "Smallville."
Mari Digby is featured in Gap's spring ad campaign "The Sound of Color." Mari is one of five emerging musicians who have each composed and recorded an original song based on a color and five filmmakers have interpreted each original song into music videos. Mari was asked to write a song inspired by the color yellow and the result is the beautiful, melodic song, "Paint Me in Your Sunshine."
