(antiMusic) A few readers have written to us in the past and asked why we always make fun of the 2367+ awards shows that are put on each year. We want to put this to rest once and for all. The good folks at Billboard.biz provide a far better answer then we ever could. Here it is:

Songwriter/producer Timbaland was named songwriter of the year at the 25th annual ASCAP Pop Music Awards. Among the other top honors handed out earlier this evening (April 9) at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre were song of the year, a tie between Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry" and Gwen Stefani's "The Sweet Escape."

Timbaland earned this year's top pop accolade for his contributions to nine ASCAP award-winning songs, including "The Way I Are," "Give It to Me," "Say It Right" and "What Goes Around Comes Around." - Who else won?
