The Sex Files, Is DMX F**king Stupid?, Foo Metallica, Miley A Tart, Suge Sprung, Half KISS Tour Rumor, Sonic Youth, Rock Band Classics and more

(antiMusic) Quick note: We will not have a Day in Rock report on Monday due to the U.S. Labor Dayฎ holiday and big sales on beer, but we'll return very hung over on Tuesday! Everyone have a great weekend and enjoy the final days of summer. Now here are today's quicks:

This isn't music related but we couldn't resist The Sex Files headline. David Duchovny has entered a rehabilitation facility for sex addiction. In a statement released Thursday by his lawyer, Stanton Stein, the actor said he did so voluntarily, adding: "I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family." more

Next week's FMQB Productions broadcast special, Metallica: The World Premiere Of Death Magnetic will be hosted by Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and drummer Taylor Hawkins. The pair will sit down with Metallica for a live broadcast from 'Tallica HQ on Thursday more

Not many habitual criminals can get away with using the F word when talking to a judge but if your DMX you get special justice. The rapper was sentenced to time served Thursday in Miami after pleading not guilty to attempted marijuana and cocaine possession, a deal that will allow him to avoid jail time—in the Sunshine State, at least. He was also ordered to pay a $483 court fine and return for a follow-up hearing Oct. 3. To which DMX could be heard replying to the judge, "I ain't coming back on f--king Oct. 3." The judge's reaction can be found here

The Smiths will be the subject of yet another compilation this fall in the form of "Hang the DJ: The Very Best of the Smiths." The set is due Oct. 7 via Rhino in both single- and double-disc versions. more

Marion "Suge" Knight has been released from the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas. The founder of bankrupt Death Row Records posted $19,000 bail yesterday (Aug. 28) and promised to appear in court on felony assault and drug charges more

Hawthorne Heights are to perform current hit single "Rescue Me" on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Thursday 18th October, 2008

BW&BK has learned from inside the KISS camp that the band are planning an East Coast leg of their Alive/35 anniversary tour. more

And for today's "utterly useless tabloid crap you can't use"ฎ we turn to pseudo-tabloid Fox News: "Project Runway" fashionista Tim Gunn says Miley Cyrus' style is "just a little too tarty." (Miley Cyrus) is just a little too tarty, forgive me. I don't want her to look like she's going into a convent school, but it's just a little too much for a 15-year-old. If I didn't know better, I'd swear she was 25," Gunn told OK! magazine. Not enough? You can read Gunn's frivolous opinion about other people as well. Drop some IQ points and click here for that.

Zimmers Hole have issued the following update: "It is with deep regret and totally un-metal sorrow that we must cancel our upcoming US tour with Sigh." why?

The Rotted are pleased to announce their new bassist as none other than The Reverend Trudgill, former frontman of eccentric British metal loons Screamin' Daemon. more

Dark Tranquillity have issued the following update: "With the recent departure of Michael Nicklasson, we're searching for a new bass player. First and foremost we need someone to fill in on the upcoming Europan tour in October/November, and in the longer perspective we want a steady member that can participate in the songwriting for the next studio album. [spelling skills are not required.] More info here

On Aug. 27, U.S. District Judge Howard Lloyd ruled that online video-sharing service Veoh isn't liable for copyright infringement for material uploaded to its Web site by users, dismissing a lawsuit brought by adult entertainment production company Io Group. more

Paria has finished tracking their new album, titled "The Barnical Cordious." more

Too Pure To Die is currently in the studio recording a new album. Titled "Confess," the effort is being co-produced by Zeuss (Shadows Fall) and Hatebreed frontman Jamey Jasta. more

Bloodshot will release their third full-length effort, "Murder The World", on October 20 via Scarlet Records. more

Jane's Addiction's "Nothing's Shocking" and Megadeth's "Peace Sells...but Who's Buying?" are among the full-length albums will be added to Rock Band's extensively stocked catalogue of downloadable more

Has Metallica really returned to their roots?"If you could timewarp back to 1983 with a copy of 'Death Magentic' in your hands and play it to the spotty, longhaired brats who'd just finished recording 'Kill 'Em All', they would have no problem at all recognizing themselves in its epic song structures, jaw-dropping guitar work (all buzzsaw guitars and face-melting solos) and sheer whiplash-inducing energy. In fact, they'd probably be impressed. That's right kids, for once, you can believe the hype: 'Your' Metallica are back and they've brought their balls with them this time. So says this review

Last but definitely not least, Sonic Youth have begun work on a new album. The band recently completed their contract with Geffen through the release of Rather Ripped in 2006, and will be returning to an independent label. - more
