Does Pedophilia Rock Or Does Music Now Suck?- Top Tour of 08- Freddie Hubbard RIP- Timbaland Scrooged- New Lamb of God- Who Wants A Grammy? and more

12/30/2008
.
(antiMusic) We noticed something rather strange when compiling our special recap for the top stories of 2008. While we are a rock site we do from time to time include reports on vapid popsters as sort of a goof. But we were rather shocked to learn that the most read articles this year were about Miley Cyrus. Of course the reports had to do with nude photos but what does that say about the state of music? Or are there just a lot of pedophiles out there interested in photos of half-naked young teens? You'll have to decided that one for yourself. With that said, here are today's quick news stories:

Madonna's "Sticky & Sweet" concert tour was the biggest-grossing music tour of 2008 in North America, raking in $105.3 million, concert tracking magazine Pollstar said on Monday.more

Freddie Hubbard, the Grammy-winning jazz musician whose style influenced a generation of trumpet players and who collaborated with such greats as Ornette Coleman, John Coltrane and Sonny Rollins, died Monday, a month after suffering a heart attack. He was 70.more

Singer/songwriter Bonnie Bramlett has issued the following statement about the passing of her former husband and musical partner, Delaney Bramlett, who died at age 69 on December 27 in Los Angeles as a result of complications from gall-bladder surgery:
"I'm so going to miss him; as Delaney wrote in his song: 'It's hard to say good-bye.'
All I can hope is that I'll see him in the light."

Tabloid Media Zombies spammed us with this useless tidbit (It's TMZ so that's not a surprise): A Florida florist wants a piece of Timbaland's mansion after the rap mogul allegedly stiffed the store out of more than $10,000 in Xmas decorations. The White Tulip Florist in Miami Beach filed legal papers required to slap a lien on Timba's Miami mansion, claiming he bought $25,850 worth of trees, flowers and lights but still owes $11,450. more

Lamb of God has released a new online widget, with a new song, entitled "Contractor." Lamb of God's upcoming album "Wrath" is due out on February 24, 2009. You can check out the new song on the playermore

Hell Within is now in search of a replacement for departed bassist, Jason Prusak. Candidates should be over 21, have professional gear, have prior experience..yadda, yadda, yadda.. more

Seems bassists are in high demand these days. Ramming Speed have parted with their bassist and are seeking a permanent replacement.

At least one band has managed to find a new bassist: 2 Sides 2 Die has announced their new bassist. "As of This Afternoon, Paul Hanson has Joined 2 Sides 2 Die. Paul is formally of the Band 'Heavy Burden,' a Classic Rock cover band located out of York, Pa" more
