(PR) The Dollyrots, LA power punk trio on Blackheart Records, are touring in support of their latest album, 'Because I'm Awesome.'Power punk trio The Dollyrots rip through sassy, high-energy, bubblegum anthems on their sophomore album 'Because I'm Awesome,' out now on Joan Jett's Blackheart Records. The band was founded by long-time friends Kelly Ogden (vocals, bass) and Lucas Cabezas in Florida in early 2000. After relocating to LA and adding drummer Chris Black, the band spent the summer of 2006 on the Vans Warped Tour. Joan Jett, a featured performer on the tour, was impressed with The Dollyrots and signed them to Blackheart Records.
The title track on their album, "Because I'm Awesome," was voted "The Coolest Song of 2007" on Little Steven's Underground Garage, beating out rock superstars like The White Stripes, Bruce Springsteen and Mick Jagger. Also included on the album is "Brand New Key," a fiery cover of the popular '70s tune by Melanie.
