Justin Townes Earle SXSW

02/20/2008
.
(PR) As the release date for his debut album grows near, Justin Townes Earle announces a packed schedule at SXSW Music Conference, a performance on the highly respected syndicated radio show Mountain Stage, and additional dates on his spring tour. The Good Life in stores March 25th is receiving praise from the critics and fans are eagerly waiting for the upcoming performances across the US. SXSW finds Justin playing parties and showcases every day, including the official Bloodshot Records showcase on Saturday night and the label’s 14th annual day party at Yard Dog Friday, March 14th.

Justin takes the stage at West Virginia’s Mountain Stage Sunday, April 27th. Mountain Stage is a highly respected radio show produced by West Virginia Public Broadcasting, and distributed by Public Radio International, XM Satellite Radio and the Voice of America's satellite radio service. On the air since 1983, the program has hosted greats of every genre, including John Prine, Wilco, Regina Spektor, R.E.M., Ben Harper and countless others.

With Justin Townes Earle’s pedigree comes mixed blessings. As the son of legendary singer/songwriter Steve Earle, high expectations are the name of the game; but he’s shown that he is up to the task, crafting stark portraits with elements of acoustic blues and folk. After a misspent youth in bluegrass/ragtime combo The Swindlers and the louder, more rocking The Distributors, the 25-year-old cleaned up his act, dropped his self-destructive habits and began to focus on songcraft. With inspirations as diverse as Townes Van Zandt (he was named in honor of the elder Earle’s hero), The Replacements, Ray Charles and The Pogues, Justin forged his own brand of American roots music.
