(Contact Music) The Los Angeles Police Department may be held in contempt of court for allegedly withholding $40,000 (GBP20,000) belonging to rapper THE GAME.

Police seized the money following a firearms incident at a basketball game in February 2007 during which The Game - real name Jayceon Taylor - is accused of hitting a player on the opposing team before threatening to shoot him. In November (07), a judge ruled the hip-hop star is entitled to be given back the $40,000 taken by authorities from his Glendale, California home in May (07).

And now a Los Angeles Superior Court judge has set a hearing for 22 January (07) to decide whether the LAPD should be held in contempt of court for holding onto the money. - more on this story
