Mason Proper Tour

01/13/2008
.
(PR) Experimental art rockers Mason Proper will give fans a sneak peak into their expanding repertoire when they debut a handful of new songs on tour this winter. The three-week run, which kicked off last week in Dayton, Ohio, will take the Michigan band through the Midwest and East Coast, stopping by the illustrious Daytrotter and WOXY.com studios to record live sessions. Following this jaunt, the band will head to Austin for the SXSW Music Festival in March for several shows including the Dovecote Records showcase.

Mason Proper will perform tracks from their debut full-length, 'There Is a Moth In Your Chest,' released last March, as well as songs from their forthcoming EP, 'Short Hand,' due March 4 on Dovecote. The EP, comprised of live favorites, will be bundled with a DVD featuring a video for each track, directed by Mike Berlucci and the band.

Hailing from the small, isolated town of Ypsilanti, Mich., Mason Proper's quirky, eclectic compositions are nearly as hard to pigeonhole as they are to resist. Among the songs on Moth are incisive guitar ditties ("My My (Bad Fruit)") shimmering and quick pop explorations ("A Chance Encounter," "100 Years") and self-conscious electro-lullabies ("Life's Cornucopia"). These songs, filled with meticulous arrangements and infectious melodies, are effortlessly brought to life on stage, where the band is electrifying.
