More Athfest Details

(PR) Athfest 2008 will be held June 18-22, 2008, in historic downtown Athens, GA, a town long renowned for its thriving music scene. Over 175 bands and artists will perform over the course of the weekend. The two outdoor stages are free of charge.

The headlining bands include: Dark Meat on Friday, June 20th, Modern Skirts on Saturday, June 21st, and Dubconscious on Sunday, June 22nd. Additional performances on the outdoor stages include: Five-Eight, Bill Mallonee, David Barbe, William Tonks, Brantley Gilbert, Down With the Woo, Kebert Xela, Lefty Williams Band, Solstice Sisters, Ponderosa, Alathea, The Healers, Eucalyptus, Blue Flashing Light, and many more!

The festival's "Club Crawl" features anywhere from two to five bands or artists performing nightly at a variety of participating venues, including: 40 Watt Club, Blur, Caledonia Lounge, Cine, DARC Recording Studio, Farm 225, Flicker Lounge, Georgia Theatre, The Globe, Go Bar, The Library, Little Kings Shuffle Club, Melting Point, Morton Theatre, Nuci's Space, Rye Bar, Tasty World, and Wild Wings Cafe. Performing artists include: Elf Power, Bloodkin, Lona, Lullwater, Ken Will Morton, Twin Tigers, Centro-matic, Venice is Sinking, Hayride, Producto, Casper & The Cookies, We Vs. The Shark, Snowden, Don Chambers + Goat, Hope For Agoldensummer, Bearfoot Hookers, and more.

Wristbands are $15 and can be purchased either online or during the festival at the main stage area. Wristbands provide discounts, free entry to special events, and allow unlimited access to the venues.

The Flagpole Music Awards will be held on Thursday, June 19th at the historic Morton Theatre. The awards will begin at 8:00 PM and will include live musical performances from nominated talent, along with the announcement for "Best Music Video" and "Audience Choice" awards from the Sprockets Music and Video Competition.

TeenScreen FilmFest and Concert will take place on Friday, June 20th at Redeemer Presbyterian Church Auditorium at 8:30 PM on Pulaski St. TeenScreen features a lineup of various short films, documentaries, and music videos created by local teen artists. Admission is free with an AthFest wristband, $5 without a wristband, and $1 for students. Encore screenings will be held at Cinι on Saturday, June 26th at 5:00 PM.
