(PR) Midnight Movies follow their sophomore LP Lion The Girl with the Nights EP, due digitally March 11 on New Line Records, a combination of their retrospective discography re-mixed and the surreptitious gratification derived from the live experience.Lion The Girl proved Midnight Movies owned their own brand of "psychedelic pop," lead by Olivier's crystalline voice, both chilling and mysterious, coasting over a sprawling wall-of-sound. On this 6-song EP, the quartet revisits two LP tracks, re-mixed and dance-floor ready, and adds live favorites. Nick Zinner (Yeah Yeah Yeah's) reworked "Souvenirs," bringing a punky-electro urgency that effectively juxtaposes front woman Gena Olivier's bewitching vocals. Meanwhile James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins) injected "Patient Eye" with steady drumbeats and breaks, propelling the originally steady song into a frenzy.
