Armed Forces Week: Day 3 "Now, Now People"
03/26/2008
.
(antiMusic) This week we feature Armed Forces' frontman Brandon Jazz who tells us about his favorite tracks on the new album "Modern Gospel". We won't bore you with a long intro, instead we'll let Brandon speak for himself. Here he is with today's song "Now, Now People": This one is probably anthem of the record and my personal favorite. Given the explicit references to drug use and the like, the only sensible thing to do was get a children's choir on the chorus...right? We never found anyone willing to let us borrow their kids, so we ended up tracking several takes of Matt Brown, myself, and our friend Chelsea Marie singing the call-backs and credited it in the liner notes as The North Sixth Street Children's Choir. The studio we were tracking at (The Bomb Shelter, Nashville) was on N. Sixth, so the name seemed fitting. As a side note, I'm not ashamed to admit that I lifted the chorus chord progression from Junior Senior and the bridge guitar riff from Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. So what? Now go learn more about the group, check out some songs from the CD and see if you spot something rather interesting about - the band.
