Armed Forces Week: Day 4 "Rock N Roll N*gger Part Two"
03/27/2008
.
(antiMusic) This week we feature Armed Forces' frontman Brandon Jazz who tells us about his favorite tracks on the new album "Modern Gospel". We won't bore you with a long intro, instead we'll let Brandon speak for himself. Here he is with today's song "Rock N Roll Nigger Part Two":It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of punk rock, so I wrote this one as a throwback to the music I grew up on. The spirit of rock and roll has always been loud, fast, and dangerous and punk's always been fun for me cause they say anyone can do it. In the end it became a contest with myself to see how many parts I could cram into less than a minute, and I like that it feels like it ends before it really starts. The lyrics are about being tired of getting talked down to, and trying to throw it back in the faces of the people who think they're better than you. Terms like "punk" and "nigger" and "faggot" are commonplace in society today, and the notion that certain people are inferior to others is absurd to me. My response is to be loud and proud about what I wanna do and let anybody that has a problem with it know that they can f*ck themselves. Ironically, what is supposed to be a rallying cry for anyone who's ever been discriminated against just gets me labeled as a racist...obviously missing the point. Now go learn more about the group, check out some songs from the CD and see if you spot something rather interesting about - more on this story
