Goth Murder Convictions

(antiMusic) We have made light of recent reports of the violence against emo-kids in Mexico, but the following story is no laughing matter. A 20-year-old UK woman was beaten to death and her boyfriend sustained serious injuries after being attacked by five teenagers because the couple were goth. One of those teen attackers was just found guilty of the murder, according to NME. One of the attackers, Brendan Harris, 15, was found guilty of the murder of Sophie Lancaster. Another attacker, Ryan Herbert, has already pleaded guilty to the murder, according to the NME report which also says that "all five defendants have pleaded guilty to charges of causing grievous bodily harm." The victims mother, Sylvia Lancaster, issued a statement after the verdict and said in part, "I am convinced Sophie was killed simply because of the way she looked. She did not necessarily conform to the ideals of those who took her life." - Read the NME report for more on this tragic story.
