(RCA) Leona Lewis, who has taken the world by storm with her international hit single “Bleeding Love,” has now conquered the U.S, claiming the Number One spot on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. It has been 21 years since a British female solo artist has achieved this milestone, not since Kim Wilde’s cover of the Supremes’ “You Keep Me Hangin’ On” in 1987, according to Billboard Magazine. Leona’s debut single “Bleeding Love” entered the Hot 100 chart six weeks ago, and each consecutive week has increased over 40 %, and in the last two weeks, the single has exploded with 80% increases each week. Lewis’ debut album SPIRIT is set for release in the U.S. on April 8th. The U.S. album includes two new brand new songs from Akon and Madd Scientist and completely new versions and mixes of songs from the international release, featuring tracks by superstar collaborators Ryan Tedder, Dr. Luke, Ne-Yo, Max Martin, J.R. Rotem, Stargate, and more. Leona is scheduled to perform on Good Morning America, Live with Regis and Kelly, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and MTV's “TRL” the week of release.
