Kevin Shields and his band are to begin work on their first album in 17 years after he realized the material he abandoned in 1996 was pretty good after all.Shields confirmed the rumors at the My Bloody Valentine-curated All Tomorrow's Parties festival this weekend, taking his earplugs out for long enough to talk to the New York Times. He will be returning to songs started over a decade ago, during abortive sessions for Island Records.
