The tributes start on Friday with music from Woodstock in the spotlight throughout the day. From 2 to 4 p.m., WFUV will offer the special "Woodstock 40 Years On," featuring interviews with rockers like Grace Slick, Mickey Hartand, Richie Havens, as well as never-before-heard audio recorded during the festival. The special will get behind-the-scenes stories from Eddie Kramer (who engineered the original gathering) and Woodstock's promoter, Michael Lang, plus reminiscences from Bob Weir, Robbie Robertson, Leslie West, Arlo Guthrie and the musings of Wavy Gravy and more. At 7:40 AM and 4:45 PM on Friday, Pete Fornatale, author of "Back to the Garden: The Story of Woodstock," looks back on the festival in the daily feature Take Five.
The celebration continues all weekend long on the station's FUV Music web stream and HD channel, with special features and music. The festival will also be remembered on Pete Fornatale's own show, Mixed Bag, on Saturday from 4:00-8:00 PM. Capping off the festivities on August 16th from 8:00-11:00 AM, will be Sunday Breakfast, as host John Platt chats with Richie Havens, Joe Cocker, Country McDonald and others about their Woodstock memories.
