Dave Matthews To Play Jane Goodall and MusiCares Benefits and Headline Hullabalou Festival

12/04/2009
.
Dave Matthews is keeping his plate full when he's not mocking Ozzy Osbourne on SNL (he nailed it btw - see below). Matthews has announced solo appearances at a Benefit for the Jane Goodall Institute (Tim Reynolds also appearing), taking part in the MusiCares Benefit show and playing with the full Dave Matthews Band as headliners at the Hullabalou Music Festival. Here is the info on all three events

Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds will perform A Benefit for the Jane Goodall Institute on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at D.A.R. Constitution Hall in Washington D.C. The benefit concert is part of a year-long celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Dr. Jane Goodall’s work.

Dave Matthews Band will headline the Hullabalou Music Festival at Churchill Downs, the world-famous home of the Kentucky Derby on Sunday July 25, 2010. The 1st annual Hullabalou Festival will take place on July 23-25 and showcase more than 65 bands, including Bon Jovi, Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown Band, Steppenwolf, The Black Crowes, Michael McDonald, Colbie Caillat, Loretta Lynn, the B-52s, Al Green, and many more. HullabaLOU will feature five stages throughout the sprawling 147-acre facility in Louisville, KY.

As if that wasn't enough: On January 29, 2010, Dave Matthews will join a host of talented artists including Jackson Browne, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Sheryl Crow, Josh Groban, Emmylou Harris, Norah Jones, K.D. Lang, John Mellencamp, Ozomatli, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Wilco and others who will come together for a MusiCares benefit to honor Neil Young as MusiCares 2010 Person of the Year.

Neil Young will be honored at a special event in Los Angeles which will celebrate his exceptional artistic achievements and philanthropic work. Proceeds from the annual MusiCares Person of the Year tribute — now in its 20th year — provide essential support for MusiCares, which ensures that members of the music community have a place to turn in times of financial, medical and personal need. For more information on the work of MusiCares and the 20th Anniversary Tribute Benefit, visit http://www.MusiCares.com.

Background info on the Jane Goodall gig and ticket 411: Throughout the 50th anniversary year, the Jane Goodall Institute will celebrate Dr. Goodall’s illustrious career, the rich legacy of the Gombe research in Tanzania, East Africa and the many answers Gombe has yet to reveal. The impact of the Gombe research spans the globe and covers a wide range of scientific disciplines, including human evolution, ethology, anthropology, behavioral psychology, sociology, conservation, disease transmission (including HIV-AIDS), aging and geospatial mapping. Additional information on the work of the Jane Goodall Institute may be found at http://www.janegoodall.org../.
