Green Day The Best Band of the Decade? was a top story for this week. Here it is again: Green Day have swept Rolling Stone magazine's decade end Readers' Poll, taking top honors in three categories including being voted the No. 1 Artist of the Decade, beating out Radiohead, U2, Coldplay, Bruce Springsteen, Eminem, Jay-Z, and many others. This year's poll was conducted on Rollingstone.com.
The magazine's readers also chose Green Day's Grammy Award-winning 2004 album American Idiot the No. 1 Best Album, and named its single "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" the No. 1 Song.
Additionally, Green Day's current album 21st Century Breakdown came in at No. 5 on the editors' list of the Top Ten Best Albums of 2009. Recently, the band has won an American Music Award, a 2009 MTV Europe Music Award, been nominated for a People's Choice Award, and scored three 2010 Grammy Award nominations, including one for "Best Rock Album" and two for the single "21 Guns," which won three 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. - more on this story
