Airborne Toxic Arctic Monkeys Events

07/14/2009
.
(PR) The Airborne Toxic Event announces two new dates added to their world tour today: Tuesday September 22nd in Salt Lake City, UT at In The Venue and Wednesday September 23rd in Denver, CO at the Ogden Theatre. The band will be co-headlining with Arctic Monkeys.

The band will bring the music from their eponymous debut throughout the world, playing in 11 countries and on 4 continents. The album, which features the Top 5 single "Sometime Around Midnight," was released August of 2008 on an indie label, and after a slow yet steady ascension has topped Billboard's Heatseekers chart the last three weeks, bringing the total number of times the album has been #1 on this chart to three. The band also passed the 100K threshold in albums sold.

The band's second single, "Wishing Well," has made a strong entry onto the Modern Rock chart while the first single, the haunting "Sometime Around Midnight" has now entered the top 40 of the Hot AC Chart after being a Top 5 hit at Modern Rock for 6 weeks.

A recently-made video for "Midnight" by filmmaker DJ Caruso (Disturbia, Eagle Eye) has helped the band secure support on the ever-influential VH1 program "You Oughta Know." The song had been named the #1 Alternative Track by iTunes last December, and was a Top 5 Modern Rock smash.

The band has had major success overseas, getting extra attention for their ambitious tour of the UK which included 30 shows in 30 consecutive days. Q raved in a 4 out of 5 review that the album contained "lyrics full of the best fiction's emotional resonance, tracing a historical line from The Strokes to The Killers, yet also marking this band's own great leap forward." Uncut, also in a 4 out of 5 review, said "TATE's debut touches on Stooges garage rock, sultry blues, Strokesian pop all swaddled in opulent Americana." The best endorsement came from the NME in a live review: "Firmly on the right side of dramatic, their engaging stage presence and mawkish violin justifies the Arcade Fire comparisons. There's a beautiful yet deftly macabre spine to their songs, and 'Sometime Around Midnight' is a stirring demonstration of their power. If you haven't seen TATE, you should."
