(antiMusic) While the Trash Media Zombies, as well as a lot of legitimate media outlets, are milking the death of Michael Jackson, we decided to forgo that kind of coverage. If something significant develops, we will report it, but count us out of the blatant exploitation we have seen this past weekend. With that said, here are some of the other top stories that slipped through that deluge.

UFC announced today that the Limp Bizkit concert event planned for Friday, July 10 at the Mandalay Bay Beach has been cancelled, according to Metal Underground. Tickets will be refunded at place of purchase. The show was to kick off the band's "Unicorns N' Rainbows" tour in their first North American concert with the original line-up in eight years.

Bruce Springsteen closed the second night of the Glastonbury festival Sat (June 27) by paying tribute to the late Clash man Joe Strummer. Springsteen, a huge Clash and Strummer fan, chose to open the set with a solo rendition of Strummer's track 'Coma Girl'.more

Pixies frontman Black Francis has revealed that he is planning to record the band's first new album since 1991's Trompe Le Monde with a Hollywood film director. The surviving members of the long-defunct Finnish band Sentenced have issued a new statement regarding the passing of the group's former guitarist and main songwriter, Miika Tenkula, who was found dead at his home on February 19, 2009. He was 34 years old. The statement reads as follows: "To stop rumours about Miika Tenkula's cause of death, his family wishes to state the following: Miika had a genetic heart condition and died from a sudden attack at his home on February 18, 2009."more

After a year-long hiatus, Harlots has apparently decided to permanently disband. The group has announced that their final shows will take place in mid-August.dates

Bleeding Through will embark on a special West Coast tour in August to celebrate the band's ten-year anniversary. Along for the ride will be Carnifex, Miss May I and Motionless In White. more

The scheduled October Australian/New Zealand tour of Florida death metal legends Deicide has been cancelled yet again.more

Hate Eternal was forced to miss their weekend shows in Chile and Argentina. Here's an explanation from the band: "Due to not being provided the proper paperwork to process the working visas we were cleared for, we're not able to perform for our fans in Chile and Argentina this weekend." more

Imperial has announced the addition of Marco "The Shredder" Mendoza to their line-up. Here's a statement from the band: "Marco brings his experience from writing, recording and touring with hardcore/metal act From The Shallows and will be taking his position as full time Shredder with Imperial. Josh Lightfoot will be moving to Synth/Keyboards full time for the band as our new music will focus more on the symphonic elements that we have experimented with in the past" more

In an attempt to raise money to buy new shoes, Minneapolis, MN's Pretty Boy Thorson and the Falling Angels are going on a five week tour of the Midwest and East Coast.more -
