The Whispertown 2000 Tour

03/19/2009
.
(PR) Acony Records is proud to announce that The Whispertown 2000 have confirmed dates throughout the spring in support of Maria Taylor. The tour will kick off in Gainesville, FL, on April 4th, and come to a close on May 3rd in Los Angeles, CA.

Prior to these dates, the band will also be performing at several SXSW showcases and parties in Austin, TX, and will headline a few dates on their own.

This tour will be in support of the band's debut release, Swim, which hit stores late last year. This record was the first release off of Gillian Welch and David Rawling's label, Acony Records.

Comprised of four members: Morgan Nagler (lead vocals, guitar), Tod Adrian Wisenbaker (drums, guitar), Casey Wisenbaker (bass) and Vanesa Corbala (vocals), the band mixes creative folk sounds along with hypnotic melodies - creating a truly unique sound. Filter best described their songs, noting that "Swim is everything that's great about Nagler and her group -- arch simplicity, angst-free acoustic poetics, home-spun urban sweetness, melodies that start spinning in the head and never stop." Spin was quick to name the band a "buzzcatcher" and praised them for their "acute lyrics and heartsick vocals."

Jenny Lewis has been a long-time friend and supporter of the group. When asked what her thoughts were of the band, she said, "Morgan Nagler is my favorite songwriter. Period." The Whispertown 2000 has opened for Jenny Lewis, Rilo Kiley, She & Him and Bright Eyes in the past. They plan to continue touring throughout 2009.
